Stub Length Drills (2D-3D) Stub length drills refer to drills with shorter flute lengths, making them the most rigid and well suited for shallow holes. For our carbide drills, OSG utilizes the designations 2D and 3D to more specifically classify flute lengths. This designation specifically defines how deep our drills can functionally drill relative to their diameter. In other words, a 1/2" 3D OSG drill can drill a hole 3/4" deep.
